Maths Surprise

Dear Parents,

Year Two students received a BIG surprise this term to further enhance their mathematical knowledge and love of Maths. We are trialling the MATHLETICS programme for the remainder of the year for the rest of the school. This has been paid by the school as a trial and your child has been given a login and password. They can log in at home and participate in Live Mathletics against children from all over the world.
It is important for you to reinforce how a password should never be shared with other children, only you as their parents. We have discussed this in class but a reminder would be greatly appreciated.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to see me.

SHOEBOXES. You should have received a letter home telling you what your child has chosen to buy and put into the shoebox. If you have not please see me A.S.A.P. This is a beautiful activity to be involved in and the children really enjoy participating in it. I would like you to encourage your child to do something extra to help out at home so that they are able to earn the money to buy the item for the shoebox. By doing this they really have an understanding of giving to others. I have discussed this with the children so they are aware of helping out more.

READING BOOKS. It is really encouraging to see parents using the scanning system for our class readers. I would ask you to only take books from the level that your child is on so that I know that they are reading at the level which will enable them to develop the many different skills needed to become fluent, confident readers with a very good understanding of what they read. If you have any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to see me and we can discuss this further.

LEARNING JOURNEYS. Stay posted for more details.
